Massive Attack's Heligoland Album To Be Made Into Short Films.

The famously macabre trip hop collective, Massive Attack, return today with the release of Heligoland. Far from just being another highly anticipated return however, the new album is also in the process having its tracks turned into a series of short films.

The first we've seen of the short films belong to 'Splitting The Atom', 'Paradise Circus' and 'Flat Of The Blade'. The specifically designed website showcasing the work requires Twitter log in to the "Massive Attack Tweatre".

Our favourite so far has to be 'Splitting the Atom', directed by Edouard Salier. The immense CGI adventure is as dark as Massive Attack's music but also as bizarre and unpredictable as you'd expect.

'Paradise of Circus' however, takes dark to new levels as it portraits the famous '70s porn star Georgina Spelvin's career in her own words. Director Toby Dye explains on site:

"In unblinking close-up a frail little old lady looks straight down the lens of the camera as she describes the f**k of her life from nearly 40 years ago. Intercut with her frank confession is actual footage of the intimate moments she describes"

Also taking directing duties are Baillie Walsh - who is responsible for the 'Unfinished Sympathy' video - and  Ewan Spencer who is known for his work in the grime scene. In all seven films will be made but so far four are complete, you can see all the videos so far here
